Performance has a significant (if not the most) impact when addressing the user experience of a website or any kind of digital platform. Long response times can lead users to lose their attention and eventually even abandon the process you wanted them to go through. In this session we will go through the various aspects of both front- and back-end performance and look into ways of defining, measuring and testing performance of web applications.

Performance is not something that can be taken into account at the end of the build phase of a application. To build a fast and responsive application, specific attention needs to be paid to the various elements of the solution throughout the various stages of development.

In this session, we will give an answer to the following questions:

  • How can we define performance so we can agree on the actual performance requirements together with the client?
  • How to measure and audit performance and detect bottlenecks?
  • What is the usual low-hanging fruit when talking about performance issues?
  • How can you test the performance of an application taken into account future scalability?
