Drupal CMS: Golden standard for privacy and data protection
As the Drupal CMS strategy v1.0 describes, supporting the Open Web is our responsibility. Drupal's Open Web Manifesto clarifies, that the Open Web is strengthened by every individual’s right to choice, privacy, and security. The Open Web must be designed to protect — not exploit — personal data and public discourse.
The "Drupal CMS Track 8 Privacy and Compliance" is governed by this responsibility. It delivers the necessary technical implementation but also provides information and advice for other tracks and the whole product to get it right on all levels.
This track's outcome should not be perceived as judgement, it's about information and recommendation. Users of Drupal CMS can make their own (risk) assessment and make conscious decisions about privacy and compliance. However, we are not lawyers and do NOT provide legal advice.
This session provides insights on the status of Drupal CMS and lays out the roadmap for future improvements when it comes to data protection, privacy and compliance.
Synopsis
Drupal CMS is delivered with privacy and data protection in mind, making it a no-brainer for marketers and other site owners when it comes to choosing the right CMS for their project. As the track lead for this area I'll be providing a status update and lay out the way forward on how to improve the product even further.
Learning Objectives
Your take-away from this session will be to know how Drupal CMS is configured out of the box when it comes to privacy and data protection, but also why we've come up with that setup and what you can expect for future versions.
Prerequisite
If compliance with data protection and/or privacy of your users is relevant to your organisation, this session will give you the status update on where Drupal CMS landed and where it's going from there.
